Major Health Care Problems in Egypt
1. Insufficient Supply of Qualified Medical Doctors in Egypt
There are 245,000 medical doctors registered in Egypt, however only 10 percent of those registered doctors work in their field of medicine in Egypt. Some doctors earn less the $160 per month as a doctor. Most doctors in Egypt can't afford a private practice, and furthermore many doctors must supplement their medical income with up totwo other sources of income.
2.Young Doctors Lack Practical Medical Experience
Medical internships we are familiar with in the United States, do not exist to the majority of medical student in Egypt.
Although 8,000 medical students graduate from Egyptian medical schools per year, they graduate with absolutely no practical medical experience. These graduates are not adequately prepared to functionally serve the public adequately in any safe capacity.
For example one recently graduated medical doctor miss diagnosis 12 patients and offered medical services that resulted in all 12 of his patients ending up total and 100 percent blind. In both eyes.
3. Discriminating Treatment to Patients of Christian Faith
Most of the doctors working in government operated facilities are from a Muslim religious background. To put it mildly they detest Christian patients.
Frequently, Christian patients are intentionally misdiagnosed or even go untreated, and sometimes neglected. Many Christians die in the care of these Muslim doctors or at the mercy of government and or privately funded and operated medical facilities and hospitals.
Sadly, approximately 9.5 million Christians do not currently have affordable, accessible healthcare facilities nor any form of healthcare insurance.
4. Ineffective Public Health Care
The Egyptian government manages 80 percent of the country's hospitals, which are failing to provide national health care for approximately 76 million people. The healthcare systems is ailing in Egypt, and the public healthcare insurance program which was launch two decades ago and is still failing and only serves approximately 13 percent of the Egyptian population.
Initially, the Egyptian Government offered public benefits were supposed to be available , accessible and affordable for every person in Egypt in need of low cost medical insurance. (poverty level for approximately 21 percent of the population is @ 54.77 US dollars per monthly household income.) Until now in 2017 the Egyptian government only had less than$ 1.9 billion US dollars available to fund their failing healthcare systems and government owned, operated and controlled hospital system.
God has made it possible for the Egyptian Government afford to pay for our Health Care initiative. The government has cut its purchase of CNG from $795 to $250 million as significant Natural Gas Reserve in Egypt was just discovered in December 2016. There is an Italian energy company that has now contracted to harvest this extremely large natural supply of clean energy fuel for Egypt.
